Social Media Ambassador

  • Job Summary: This role is responsible for assisting the Colonie Democratic Committee in building momentum for local Democrats by harnessing the power of social media. Ambassadors will amplify the committee’s content on their own platforms, will create and post original content supporting candidates, causes, and events, and will help build awareness and community online in a positive, friendly way. Online communications are how the committee reaches voters, so ambassadors are important to the committee's engagement abilities as they help spread information. 

  • Responsibilities:

    • Amplify committee’s content by liking and resharing/reposting content on personal social media platforms

    • Create and post original content supporting candidates, causes, and events

    • Build a positive and welcoming online community

    • Attend local events

    • Regularly check your email for updates from the committee

  • Qualifications:

    • A positive, friendly demeanor

    • At least one social media platform where you are comfortable sharing Colonie Democratic Committee content

    • No need to have previous knowledge of content creation as training will be provided

      • Although familiarity with tools such as Canva will be helpful

  • Time Commitment: The time commitment is somewhat flexible. Ambassadors should be prepared to spend at least an hour a week reviewing weekly committee materials and resharing content. Those who will be making their own content in addition to resharing should be prepared to spend additional time on their ambassadorship. 

  • Training: All Ambassadors will go through an onboarding process where they will be taught how to amplify committee content and create their own. 

  • Supervision: Ambassadors will work with the committee’s communications team. The communications team will provide training, regular updates and instructions, and will be available to answer questions and concerns.
