Elect for Town Board

Joel Weingarten

Joel and his family made their home in Colonie at least 28 years ago. He is an RN at St. Peter’s Health Partners, with more than 25 years of experience.  In 2015 he became an Infection Preventionist. Here his training taught him that every decision made should substantiated with facts and data as the information generated was always being submitted to government agencies (local, state and federal).  Making sure that data was correct (which played a role in all aspects of identification and decision making) stemmed from the mantra of “prove your life.”

Since 2018, he has been in the position of Value Analysis Clinician which is responsible for cost savings initiatives, conversions, backorders, etc.  Being the Value Analysis Clinician meant that he was the only clinical person in Supply Chain supporting all of St. Peter’s Health Partners.  During the pandemic, he also took on the role of sourcing and procuring supplies to keep the facilities functioning, but most importantly allowing the clinical staff (Providers, Nurses, and Patient Care Technicians) to continue to provide quality patient care without interruption.

Joel has been involved in community service since he was an EMT in high school. It was fulfilling for him to be able to help others that needed it. It also allowed him to realize that he had a passion that would take him into the medical field, and eventually ending up as a Registered Nurse.

Joel became active in the Birchwood Neighborhood Association (BNA). He was later selected to become the President of the BNA, and has been for more than 11 years now. He helped lead BNA in numerous activities and also represented the concerns of his neighborhood at many town meetings.

Joel wants to run for the Colonie Town Board because he wants to do the right thing for our community. He wants to make sure that the decisions made in Colonie will have a positive impact for generations to come. We should be looking to improve our infrastructure and manage the town so that it is sustainable for the long term.  Since his Infection Prevention days, Joel continues to believe in the mantra of “proving your life”, regarding everything he does.  Joel wants to bring that level of trust and responsibility to the Town Board.
